Z's sweep Oklahoma

The first place Zephyrs scored four second inning runs enroute to a 6-4 win over the Oklahoma Redhawks on Thursday night. The Zephyrs finished off a sweep of division rival Oklahoma. With the Round Rock win against Albuquerque, the Zephyrs moved into first place all by themselves with four games to play. New Orleans got a strong start from lefty Dave Williams, the starter worked seven innings allowed two runs on four hits and earned the win. The Zephyrs led 1-0 in the second inning when Robinson Cancel drilled a two RBI double into left field to give the Zephyrs a 3-0 lead. Anderson Hernandez had a pair of hits and drove in a run. The Z's added a pair of runs off of starter Armando Gallarraga in the fifth inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Redhawk bullpen silenced the Z's not allowing a hit in the final four innings. The Z's Jose Santiago allowed a pair of runs but was bailed out by Jon Adkins. Adkins worked the final five outs and earned the save.

Game Notes: The Z's have held the first place spot for 100 days ..... The Z's finished off their fifth sweep of the season and their second road sweep of the season ..... New Orleans got their first winning series in the month of August.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Round Rock begin the final regular season series of the season. The first game of the four game series on Friday night. The Zephyrs will send Adam Bostick to the mound to face Chan Ho Park for the Express in the 7:00 p.m. game at Dell Diamond. RADIO: Wist-AM 690.
