TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Nashville Sounds are the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. They have been a member of the PCL since 1998. Last year, Nashville finished tied for first in American North Division with a 76-68 record. They won the division title by a tie-breaker over Iowa.

VS. NASHVILLE:

The RedHawks are 3-9 against the Sounds this season, winning all three series openers and losing the other nine games. Oklahoma is 1-2 at Nashville this year.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 130 of the season, and the first of a five day 6-game series between Oklahoma and Nashville. This is the 13th of 18 meetings between the RedHawks and Sounds this season.

LAST GAME:

The RedHawks won for the sixth time in their last seven games, defeating New Orleans 10-2 last night. The Hawks homered three times last night as they built a 7-0 lead. Nate Gold hit a 2-run homer in the first, David Matranga hit a solo shot in the third and Tug Hulett added a 2-run shot in the fourth. That was more than enough run support for starter Edinson Volquez, who tossed seven scoreless innings for his sixth win of the season. Volquez hasn't allowed a run in his last 13 IP. Eight of the nine RedHawk starters had at least one hit.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Eric Hurley

goes to the mound for the 11th time this season for the RedHawks. He won Thursday against Memphis, allowing just one run on three hits over seven innings. Hurley lost his only start against the Sounds this season July 6 at The Brick as he allowed four runs on five hits in 5.2 innings. R.A. Dickey gets the ball for the Sounds. Dickey, the former RedHawk and Ranger, is 1-0 against the Hawks this season, winning July 5 at The Brick as allowed just one run on four hits in six innings.

REDHAWK ROADTRIPPERS:

The RedHawks improved to 19-7 in their last 26 road games. The Hawks are hitting .280 with 35 homers in the last 26 road games. They have outscored their opponents 155-89 during that time. The pitching staff has a 2.96 ERA in that stretch.

GOLD RUSH:

Gold continues to put up big power numbers this month after hitting another home run last night. He has 10 homers with 22 RBIs in 20 August games. He's hitting .444 with five homers and nine RBIs during his current 7-game hitting streak. Gold leads the RedHawks with 23 homers and 91 RBIs. The RedHawks improved to 12-2 in the last 14 games Gold has homered.

GO WEST: Kevin West

has hit safely in eight of nine games since coming off the DL Aug. 12. He's hitting .303 with a homer and three RBIs during that stretch. West has split his starts over the last nine games between left field and DH.

STARTERS PICK UP THE PACE:

The RedHawks have received solid starting pitching over their last eight games as they've pulled to within one game of first place. The starters are 6-1 with a 1.64 ERA over that time, with five quality starts. Compare that to the previous eight games (Aug. 5-Aug. 13) when the Hawks went 2-6 and fell four games back. The starters went 2-4 with a 6.91 ERA during that eight game stretch.

FRANKLYN THE CLOSER: Franklyn German

has converted his last two save chances. He leads the Hawks with five saves. He has allowed only one run, with 13 strikouts in his last eight appearances, spanning 8.1 innings.

LEAGUE LEADERS: Freddy Guzman

leads the league with 48 stolen bases. Tug Hulett is fourth with 85 runs scored.

The RedHawks are 11-3 on Wednesday this season, and they're 22-11 in the first game of a series...the RedHawks are 6-0-3 in their last nine road series...the Hawks have at least one extra-base hit in 23 straight games... Guillermo Quiroz is hitting .391 with four doubles and an RBI during a 6-game hit streak...Victor Diaz has 26 RBIs in his last 32 games...Scott Feldman hasn't allowed an earned run in his last seven appearances out of the bullpen, dating back to Aug. 3.
