TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Sacramento River Cats are the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's. Last season, the River Cats finished second in the Pacific South with a 78-66 record.

VS. SACRAMENTO:

The two teams split a 4-game series last season at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks hit .265 with six homers, and RedHawk pitchers had a 4.25 ERA in the series.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 116 of the season, and the final of 4 meetings between Oklahoma and Sacramento this season. The RedHawks return home for an 8-game homestand, starting Friday at 7:05 against Iowa.

LAST GAME:

The RedHawks scored three runs in each of the sixth and eighth innings as they defeated the River Cats 7-3 last night. The Hawks took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning on Nate Gold's solo homer. After the Cats scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead, Gold gave the Hawks the lead for good, hitting his second homer night, putting the RedHawks up 4-2. The RedHawks added three more in the eighth on a Desi Relaford double to make the score 7-2. The River Cats put a run across the plate in the eighth on a Dee Brown homer to make the final score 7-3. Robinson Tejeda picked up his first win of the season as a RedHawk, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Edinson Volquez

makes his fifth start of the season for the RedHawks. He won his last start Friday at Fresno, allowing one run on two hits in six innings with nine strikeouts. Last season, Volquez defeated the River Cats May 10 at The Brick, allowing a run on eight hits in six innings. Colby Lewis goes to the mound for the Cats. Lewis, a former RedHawk and Ranger, hasn't pitched against the RedHawks in his career.

REDHAWKS ON THE ROAD:

The RedHawks improved to 15-6 in their last 21 road games. The Hawks are hitting .286 with 28 homers in the last 21 road games. They have outscored their opponents 131-78 during that time. The pitching staff has a 3.30 ERA in that stretch.

GOLD GOES YARD:

Gold had his second two-homer game of the season last night, finishing 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBIs. He now leads the RedHawks with 17 homers and 79 RBIs. The RedHawks are 7-1 in the last eight games Gold has homered.

DIAZ COOLED FOR ONE NIGHT: Victor Diaz's

9-game hitting streak came to and end last night. He hit .395 with three homers and seven RBIs during the streak. Diaz did walk and score a run last night and has now reached base safely in 14 of his last 15 games.

PITCHING IN ON THE ROAD:

The starters are 4-2 during this road trip. The starter has made it through the fifth inning in six of seven games. The bullpen has a 1.69 ERA with 22 strikeouts over 21.1 innings during this trip.

LEAGUE LEADERS:

Freddy Guzman leads the league with 41 stolen bases. Hulett is fourth with 82 runs scored.

DOT-DOT-DOT:

The RedHawks are 9-3 on Wednesday this season, and they're 12-16 in the finale of a series...the Hawks can clinch their third consecutive winning road trip with a win today...Last night, each team had six hits, giving the RedHawks their first win this season (1-4) when they tie their opponent for hits...the RedHawks struck out 15 times last night, the second most in a game this season. The Hawks struck out 16 times in a 12 inning game against Round Rock July 16...the RedHawks have at least one extra-base hit 10 straight games...Hulett has reached base safely in 22 straight road games...
