Fleisher Powers Keys Past Potomac
August 7, 2007 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release
Keys 1B Mark Fleisher hit two home runs and the Keys rallied from a seventh inning deficit against a depleted Nationals bullpen in a 7-5 win to notch their third straight win on Tuesday Night.
Frederick trailed 2-1 into the seventh inning, but reliever Eddy Baeza entered and promptly walked the bases loaded with no one out. The Keys would not let the opportunity go to waste as they scored four runs on just two hits to go on top 5-2.
In the eighth inning Keys 1B Mark Fleisher added needed insurance. Fleisher, who had homered in the fifth inning, drove a towering two-run blast to left field to up the Keys lead to 7-2. Four of Frederick's seven runs walked to get on base.
The runs came up handy as the Nationals scored three unearned runs in the ninth inning on a two out Justin Maxwell home run.
Jason Berken and Dan Lonsberry worked well allowing just two earned runs combined while striking out eleven Potomac batters on the night. Lonsberry picked up his sixth win of the year, all in relief.
The Keys and Nationals continue their four-game series Wednesday Night on Animal Mania Night at Harry Grove Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
