Memphis, Tenn. - Oklahoma jumped to an early lead and cruised to a 6-1 win Tuesday night at AutoZone Park.
The RedHawks put five runs on the board in the first two innings and never trailed. Nate Gold hit a three-run homer in the first to put the Hawks in the lead. David Matranga scored two more runs with a single in the second to extend the lead to five runs. Matranga and Tug Hulett each had three hits to lead Oklahoma. Jolbert Cabrera led the Redbirds with a pair of hits and scored the team's lone run.
Memphis starter Randy Keisler took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, on 12 hits over seven innings. Francisco Cruceta picked up the win with 3.1 innings of relief work. Steve Rowe started for the RedHawks and allowed one run on five hits over 4.2 innings.
The Redbirds are scheduled to have Mike Parisi on the slab for tomorrow night's 7:10 p.m. game. Oklahoma will start lefty John Rheinecker.
