Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters dropped a 13-1 decision to the Hudson Valley Renegades Monday evening at Historic Bowman Field. Cutters starter Drew Naylor was tagged for seven earned runs on 11 hits in just over six innings, while added five strikeouts to his league leading tally.
Williamsport was able to score first when Matt Rizzotti came home from third on an errant throw from Gades catcher Michael McCormick back to pitcher Alex Cobb. The Renegades posted three runs off Naylor (4-2) in the third inning and tacked on four more in the seventh before Naylor was pulled. Hudson Valley then posted six runs on four hits and three walks against Abel Gomez. The Gades knocked seventeen base hits, a season-high off Cutters pitchers.
Williamsport managed just three hits against Hudson Valley pitching tonight; a double by Rizzotti and two singles by Dominic Brown. Three Renegades pitchers combined to walk three and strikeout ten, with Cobb (3-2) getting the win. Williamsport has lost five of its last six contests and opens a six-game road trip at Brooklyn Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
