Knights P Gavin Floyd named to All-Star Team

FORT MILL, S.C. - June 27, 2007 - Charlotte Knights starting pitcher Gavin Floyd has been named to the International League All-Star team and will take part in the Triple-A All-Star game that will take place on July 11th in Albuquerque.

Floyd has been the leader of the teams pitching staff going 6-3 with a 3.07 ERA. His 74 strikeouts are good for sixth best in the IL. Floyd pitched as recently as Tuesday night at Syracuse where he earned his 6th victory of the season and helped the Knights get a 4-1 victory.

Floyd, 24, has also participated in the Florida State League all-star game in 2003 while playing for the Clearwater Thrashers, and also in the Major League Baseball Futures All-Star game in 2003 and 2004 while in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. This will be his first appearance in the International League All-Star game.

Floyd has made 14 starts for the Knights in 2007 with opponents hitting .249 against the right hander. He was acquired by the Chicago White Sox in an off-season trade with the Phillies. He was optioned to Charlotte on March 28th and has spent the entire season with the Knights.

Floyd is the only Knights player to have been selected to the all-star team.
