Lancaster's offense set the tone early with six runs in the first inning. Aaron Bates hit a two-run homer and Christian Lara cleared the bases for three more runs with a double to put Kris Johnson and the JetHawks ahead 6-0 before they ever had to take the field.
Johnson took the lead and ran with it. He turned in the first quality start of his pro career, going a career-high six innings while allowing just two runs. Johnson has allowed just eight runs in 24 innings over his last five starts. With the win Johnson evens his record at 3-3.
Several JetHawks had huge days at the plate. Aaron Bates had two home runs amongst his four hits, taking the league lead in home runs. Tony Granadillo, Mickey Hall, and Ryan Khoury each had three hits while Lara drove in four runs.
The JetHawks open their half-ending showdown in San Bernardino Friday night against Inland Empire. Matt Goodson (1-3, 9.82) pitches for the JetHawks. The 66ers counter with pitcher Marlon Arias (4-1, 5.85). The game starts at 7:05 PM and will be broadcast on radio at Magic 1340 AM, as well as on internet at www.JetHawks.com.
