Rome, GA - The Columbus Catfish defeated the Rome Braves 9-2 in front of 2,923 fans tonight at State Mutual Stadium.
The Catfish started the scoring in the third when Matt Fields (8) hit a solo homerun over the left field wall for the 1-0 lead. Columbus scored four more runs on four hits the very next inning, highlighted by a three run homer from Quinn Stewart (8) to pad their lead 5-0.
Rome added two runs in the bottom of the seventh but it was too little too late as Columbus goes on to win the game 9-2. It was the 14th win for the Catfish in 17 tries in 2007 against the Braves.
Jeremy Hellickson gets the win for the Catfish (4-1), while Tommy Hanson suffers the loss for Rome (2-5).
