'Birds Bounce Back With Solid Win Over Lake County, 4-1

Eastlake, Ohio- Delmarva plated three runs in the first inning and Pedro Beato dealt six plus innings of one run ball as Delmarva bounced back after a loss Sunday to win 4-1 over the Captains at Classic Park Monday night.
Delmarva scored three runs on four hits in the first inning. Bobby Andrews led off with a walk and moved to third on a David Cash single. Carlton Smith balked allowing Andrews to score and Cash to advance to second base. Smith followed with strikeouts of Brandon Tripp and Chris Vinyard but gave up back to back RBI hits to Billy Rowell and Brandon Snyder. Delmarva lead 3-0 after the top of the first.
Beato pitched into the seventh inning and allowed three more hits and the lone Captains run. Wifrido Perez came on in relief inherited two base runners, both in scoring position with no outs. Perez stuck out the side in order and pitched went on to pitch three perfect inning capping off the win and his fifth save of the season.
Delmarva scored a run in the ninth after Miguel Abreu doubled, stole third base and scored on a throwing error by the catcher Mike McBride. Abreu and Cash were both two for four on the night for the Shorebirds.
Delmarva sends Jeff Moore (3-1, 2.14 ERA) to the hill and the Captains will start Steven Wright (4-6, 4.75 ERA) Tuesday night at Classic Park. Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Jake Westbrook is scheduled to make a rehab start against Delmarva on Wednesday afternoon.
