Rome, GA - The Greenville Drive exploded for 15 runs to defeat the Rome Braves Sunday afternoon and salvage the final game of a four game series before 3,303 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The Drive roughed up Rome Starter Tim Gustafson with seven runs, six earned, as well as the Rome bullpen.
After the Braves took an early 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the first inning it was all downhill from there for Rome as Greenville put seven runs on the board in the fourth inning highlighted by a two RBI double by Jason Place and RBI hits by Argenis Diaz, and Reid Engel. Three of the runs scored were unearned. Greenville scored four more runs in the six and ninth innings to win going away 15-3. The Drive banged out 20 hits on the afternoon.
Greenville starter Chris Jones had an outstanding outing going seven innings and giving up just one run on one hit. Rome starter Tim Gustafson gets the loss (2-5).
