Hagerstown Suns News Release
East Lake,OH - The Hagerstown Suns were defeated 8-4 on Tuesday night at Classic Park. The Captains struck for 5 runs in innings 7 and 8 to take the first two games.
The Suns (23-29) were held scoreless through the first 5 innings, as Captains' starter Hector Rondon was dominant. Rondon went the first 5 innings, allowing no runs and only 3 hits. The Suns got to the Captains bullpen in the 6th when Chris Marrero hit a RBI groundout to plate the first Suns run in 16 innings. That run made the score 3-1 after Suns' starter Don Levinski yielded a three-run homer in the 3rd to Matt McBride. Levinski pitched well going, 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits.
So, with the score 3-1, the game was in the hands of the bullpen for both teams. In the 7th, the Suns took the lead thanks to a two-run single by Justin Maxwell and a RBI groundout off of Sheldon Fulse's bat. With the score 4-3, the Suns' bullpen and Aaron Jackson could not hold it, allowing 5 total runs to score in innings 7 and 8. The big blow came when Roman Pena hit a two-out, two-run triple to give the Captains the lead. They never looked back as they have now taken the first two games of the three game series.
