Condors Sign University of Lethbridge Standout Jay Langager

BAKERSFIELD, Calif - The Bakersfield Condors Professional Hockey Club announced today they have signed Jay Langager, a standout defenseman from the University of Lethbridge.

The Loreburn, Saskatchewan native was added to the roster today, but is recovering from a shoulder injury and will be placed on the 7-day IR. He is eligible to come off March 27.

"I'm very happy to have a defenseman of his caliber join the team," said Condors head coach Marty Raymond. "He has already won a championship with Greenville and I'm hoping he will help bring one here."

Langager is coming off a stellar season for Lethbridge where he was the school's team captain, the Canadian Interuniversity Sport MVP, first team Canadian Interuniversity Sport All-Star, Canada West MVP, Canada West Outstanding Defenseman, and a Canada West First Team All-Star.

Along with his many awards with Lethbridge this season, the 6-foot, 1-inch, 190-pound defenseman recorded 13 points (3g, 10a) for Lethbridge in 30 games. Langager also has prior ECHL experience, playing 62 games for the Greenville Grrrowl, recording 21 points (4g, 17a) in 62 games during their championship season in 2001-02 and 131 games for the Johnstown Chiefs between 2002-04, tallying 56 points (9g, 47a).

The Condors next game is tonight against Fresno, with game-time set for 7 p.m. It will be a CW Bakersfield and Big 96.5 Radio High School/College ID Night, with all college and high school students receiving $1 executive level admission when presenting their student ID. It's also another Mercy & Memorial Hospitals and ARRC Technology THINK Night, which allows students to earn terrace tickets to the game through exceptional academic and behavioral performance. The Department of Human Services is also presenting a special shoe collection where fans can receive $1 terrace admission by donating a pair of new or gently used shoes.

Friday will be a showdown for first place against the Las Vegas Wranglers with the game beginning at 7 p.m. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Condors cap courtesy of Pulte Homes and KUZZ 107.9.

Individual game tickets are on sale and may be purchased through the Rabobank Arena Box Office, which is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday with extended hours on game days. Tickets may also be purchased by phone at 322-2525, online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com or at any TicketMaster location.
