Arsenal Sweeps Season Series Against RimRockers

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2007) - The Anaheim Arsenal continued their dominance over the Arkansas RimRockers this season with a 114-106 victory Monday at the Anaheim Convention Center. The Arsenal is now 3-0 against Arkansas in their inaugural campaign.

A trio of Arsenal players scored more than 20 points apiece, led by Steven Smith with 24. Daryl Dorsey added 21, with Jawad Williams pitching in with 20 points, including three three-pointers. Forward Tyler Smith made six of 10 attempts from the field for 15 points.

"It was a must-needed win," said Arsenal interim head coach Reggie Geary. "We played well in spurts, but we're still looking for a full 48 minutes," he added.

The Arsenal exploded for 39 points in the third quarter, two shy of their season high of 41 at Arkansas last month.

Roger Powell and Olu Famutimi led the RimRockers with 21 points each. Both players shot well, with Famutimi connecting on 10 of his 11 shot attempts, and Powell making nine of 13 from the field. Guard Anthony Roberson added 16 points.

Free throws made a difference in the outcome as the Arsenal made 16 more than Arkansas on the evening.

With the win, the Arsenal improves to 17-20 on the season as they look to Friday night's game at the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Arkansas drops to 11-25 and take on Albuquerque this Friday in New Mexico.

The D-League currently includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Anaheim Arsenal (Calif.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Bakersfield Jam (Calif.), Colorado 14ers (Broomfield), Dakota Wizards (Bismarck, N.D.), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Idaho Stampede (Boise), Los Angeles D-Fenders (Calif.), Sioux Falls Skyforce (S.D.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.).

The D-League continues to develop talent from across all disciplines for the NBA's 30 teams and the entire NBA umbrella. In addition to the assignment of 20 NBA players to D-League affiliates this season, there have also been 11 GATORADE Call-Ups from the D-League to the NBA. Additionally, every referee hired by the NBA since 2002 has worked in the D-League, while coaches, athletic trainers and front office executives are also being developed.
