Aeros assign D Ovington to CHL Austin

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League have assigned rookie defenseman Chris Ovington to the Central Hockey League's Austin Ice Bats, the teams announced Monday.

Ovington, 26 (8/15/80), has posted three assists and 41 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Aeros this season. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound native of Vernon, B.C., also saw action in four regular season games and seven playoff contests for Houston last season. He notched two helpers in the post-season. Ovington helped the University of Alberta to its second straight Canadian College national championship last season, while also being named Canada West's Top Defenseman.

The Aeros play host to Milwaukee on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. It's also a Maple Leaf Pub Happy Hour Game.
