The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today that the club has sent defenceman Jon Gleed to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. Gleed will travel to Cincinnati tonight and report to the team tomorrow afternoon.Gleed, 22, recorded his first-career American Hockey League point, an assist, in his first game on October 25th, 2006 in a 5-3 win over the Toronto Marlies. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound defenceman has appeared in three games with the Bulldogs this season, posting one point (0-1-1) and two penalty minutes. A native of Milton, Ontario, Gleed accumulated 21 points (5-16-21) and 97 penalty minutes in 98 career games from 2002-2006 at Cornell University (NCAA).
In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.
The Bulldogs next game is on Tuesday, November 14th against the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights at Copps Coliseum.
