Brandon Everage Signs with Utah Blaze

November 9, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Rapid City Flying Aces News Release

Rapid City, SD - The Rapid City Flying Aces announced today that defensive back Brandon Everage (6-1, 194, Oklahoma) has signed a contract with the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League (AFL). Rapid City fans may be able to continue to watch Everage, as the AFL announced last week that they are in negotiations for a TV deal with ESPN for the upcoming season.

Everage spent one season in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) with the Flying Aces and has previously gone to NFL tryouts with the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma and was named a First Team All-American as a junior in 2002.

"It was a pleasure having a guy of Brandon's talent playing here in Rapid City," said Flying Aces head coach Dan Maciejczak. "I know he will do well at the next level and we wish him the best."

He was originally projected as a late first round - early second round draft pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, but a torn bicep and rotator cuff suffered midway through his senior season forced Everage to have off-season surgery leaving him unable to participate in the NFL combines and forcing him to miss the 2004 NFL season. After leading the Aces' in both interceptions and tackles last season, he showed he is fully recovered from that injury.

"Brandon Everage was a great talent to have here in Rapid City," said Assistant GM Brandon Curry. "We knew he was a premier player when we signed him last year and this signing comes as no surprise to us. In fact, this may just the start of his rise in leagues and he may ultimately have the opportunity to play in the NFL one day, the kid is that good!"

ACES NOTES: Season tickets are available by calling the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Box Office at 1-800-GOTMINE. Fans can secure the same great seats for all seven home games during the 2007 season.
