Indiana Fever News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Tamika Catchings and her Catch The Stars Foundation will unveil a new reading corner on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Christel House Academy (2717 South East Street). The Catch The Stars Foundation has donated books and resources to the new reading corner, and will provide future maintenance to the area as well as provide volunteers and local dignitaries as guest readers. The efforts of the Foundation add extra incentive to the Christel House reading program already in place.

Tuesday's ribbon-cutting ceremony takes place at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reading segment with Catchings and students from the school. She will be joined by Mr. Carey Dahncke, principal of Christel House Academy.

"It is the first of hopefully many reading corners in Indianapolis, and eventually throughout the U.S.," said Catchings, an Olympic gold medalist and a four-time WNBA All-Star. "My fascination with reading and trying to provide opportunities for our youth is displayed by these efforts."

"Reading is so important to me, and it is definitely a key to success. We want to help provide youth with a way to grasp the excitement for reading while they are young. That way, as they grow up, reading will become an outlet for them to explore the world. This is a stepping stone for me and my Foundation. We want to continue to grow. I have always dreamed of having a center where I could help kids 'catch their dreams one star at a time.' Now, here is an opportunity."
