Patriots welcome former NFL players and Somerset County United Way for NFL Night

August 30, 2006 - Atlantic League (AtL) Somerset Patriots

Bridgewater, NJ - The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that Thursday, September 7th will be NFL Night at Commerce Bank Ballpark.

The Patriots will welcome former New York Giants Stephen Baker, Bart Oates, Billy Ard, as well as former Detroit Lion Scott Conover to NFL Night. All NFL guests will sign autographs for fans on the main concourse during the first few innings of the game.

Baker, known as the "Touchdown Maker," spent his entire career from 1987-1992 with the Giants. He played wide receiver and was a part of the 1990 Super Bowl Champion team.

Oates played 11 years as a center in the NFL for the Giants and San Francisco 49ers, where he was on three Super Bowl Championship teams and was selected to the Pro Bowl on five occasions.

Ard spent 11 seasons as an offensive lineman in the NFL for the Giants and the Green Bay Packers. He played in 148 NFL games and won a Super Bowl Championship with the Giants in 1986.

Conover played six seasons in the NFL for the Lions, where he played in 68 games as an offensive lineman. He is currently the head coach at Perth Amboy High School.

Fans will be able to sign up to win great NFL related prizes during the game from various NFL teams.

The event also includes a special day for the Somerset County United Way, where over 800 United Way guests are expected to enjoy the game from the Upper Box seating area and picnic patio.

Somerset County United Way will have a special pre-game presentation on the field that will include recognition of NFL Night and several community partnerships with the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.
