CARSON, CA (Thursday, August 17, 2006) - The Los Angeles Galaxy have traded forward John Wolyniec to the New York Red Bulls for a fourth round selection in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft and a second round pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft the club announced today.

"John has expressed a desire to return home and we feel that he has earned the right to be accommodated," Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas said. "We were fairly compensated by New York and we wish John well as he continues his career."

A Staten Island, N.Y. native, Wolyniec is an eight-year MLS veteran who is returning to New York for his third stint with the team. The 29-year old forward started his career in 1999 with New York and then played there from 2003-2005. Acquired by the Galaxy in a trade with Columbus on May 12, 2006, Wolyniec appeared in 10 games with L.A. this season, starting eight and scoring one goal.
