South Bend, Ind. - For the second consecutive night, the Lansing Lugnuts received a terrific performance from its starting pitcher. However this time, the South Bend Silverhawks were able to get to the Lugnuts bullpen. The SilverHawks plated two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to stun Lansing and take a 3-2 win at Coveleski Stadium Friday night.

The Lugnuts led the game 2-1 in the ninth inning when Justin Upton led the inning off with an infield single. Bryan Byrne followed suit with a single to right field to put runners at first and second for South Bend. The two runners were moved up on a sacrifice bunt and the bases became loaded when an intentional walk was issued to Ricardo Sosa. Orlando Mercado then ripped a single into left field to score both Upton and Byrne to lift the SilverHawks to the 3-2 win.

Lansing took the lead in the first inning. Jason Armstrong reached on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Joey Metropoulos to make it 1-0.

The Lugnuts added another run in the next frame when Luke Hetherington ripped a double down the left field line to score Armstrong to extend the lead to 2-0.

South Bend cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second when Mercado doubled into right-center field to score Sosa and make it 2-1. Mercado finished 2-for-4 and drove in all three SilverHawk runs.
