The Latest The Akron Aeros scored five in the second and three in the fifth, pulling away for a 9-2 win over the Binghamton Mets at Canal Park yesterday...B-Mets starting pitcher William Collazo, the reigning EL Pitcher of the Week, allowed a season-high eight runs over 4 2/3 innings...Jorge Padilla went 2 for 4 and scored both of Binghamton's runs, being driven in by Andy Wilson's single in the fifth and Jay Caligiuri's groundout in the sixth...Kevin Rios also had two hits for Binghamton...the B-Mets and Akron split the four-game series, with Binghamton suffering just their sixth loss in their last 15 games.

About Binghamton The B-Mets are 11-9 in June, having lost just one of the their last five series after going 9-21 in May...yesterday, Collazo became the first B-Mets starting pitcher in 10 games to last less than five innings. Miguel Perez tossed 4+ IP 6/11 @ BOW...the B-Mets' offense was able to handle Akron pitching in their just-concluded four-game series, hitting .287 with 18 runs scored...yesterday, reliever Orlando Roman was charged with an earned run, as the B-Mets' bullpen's allowed 5 ER in their last two games after yielding just 3 ER over a seven-game stretch...28 of Binghamton's last 46 games have been decided by two runs or fewer, with the B-Mets winning 12 of those close contests, nine of them at home.

About Harrisburg The Senators are coming off a four-game series split with Altoona at Commerce Bank Park, giving them wins in 13 of their last 18, a stretch that began when they took two of three at Binghamton 6/2-4...while Harrisburg is third in the league in hitting (.260), their 4.10 ERA is the EL's worst... the Senators are managed by John Stearns, who skippered the B-Mets in 2003. Stearns made several trips to NYSEG Stadium last season, when he served as the NY Mets' Catching Coordinator.

This ‘N That After last night's game, C Yunir Garcia was sent down to High-A St. Lucie, with OF Ambiorix Concepcion being called up from St. Lucie to take his place. A Florida State League All-Star, Concepcion hit .287 and was tied for the FSL lead with 21 doubles upon his promotion...Yesterday, Kevin Rios got his third straight start, going 7 for 12 over the three games. Prior to the Akron series, Kevin hadn't played in 10 days...last Saturday, Wilson Batista extended his hit streak to 12 games, a B-Mets season high. The last B-Met with a double-digit hit streak was Mike Jacobs, who hit safely in 22 consecutive games 7/31- 8/17/2005. Jacobs' streak ended when he was called up to the NY Mets. Batista has sat out the last five contests.
