Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ) -The Eastern League announced earlier today that Thunder 1B/OF Shelley Duncan was named the Eastern League "Player of the Week" for the week ending June 11th. It is the second time that Duncan has won the award this season and the third time in his two seasons with the Thunder.

Duncan, who blasted a league-high 34 home runs for Trenton last season, had an excellent week for the Thunder, batting .429 (9-for-21) with five homers, nine RBI, six runs scored, one stolen base and a 1.143 slugging percentage in six games. The 26-year old had multiple hits in four of the five games he played in last week, including finishing the week with back-to-back two-home run games on Saturday and Sunday against the Reading Phillies.

The 6'5", 215 lb. slugger enters the week as the league leader in home runs (15) and extra-base hits (34) and is also ranked among the leaders in doubles (19-2nd), slugging percentage (.543-2nd) and RBI (39-tied 3rd).

Shelley was selected by the New York Yankees in the second round of the June 2001 draft out of the University of Arizona.
