11th Season Kicks Off Tomorrow
March 31, 2006 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release
NEW YORK (Friday, March 31, 2006) - Major League Soccer launches its 11th season with a full slate of games this weekend. On Saturday, April 1, the action kicks off with two nationally-televised match-ups. The first, live on ABC Sports at 4 p.m. ET, pits long-time rivals FC Dallas and the Chicago Fire against one another at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Tex. The other is a rematch of last year's MLS Cup final - the Los Angeles Galaxy against New England Revolution, live on ESPN2 at 11 p.m. ET.
Texas Two-Step
The Lone Star State, is the backdrop for two key games on opening weekend:
- One-Step: Frisco, April 1 - The season begins and ends at Pizza Hut Park, a gorgeous soccer stadium custom-built for FC Dallas in 2005. In addition to the season opener, Pizza Hut Park also hosts the League's championship match, MLS Cup 2006 on November 13.
- Two-Step: Houston, April 2 - Major League Soccer makes its East Texas debut when the Houston Dynamo host the Colorado Rapids at Robertson Stadium in a match broadcast live in high-definition by HDNet at 7:30 p.m.

An updated version of the entire 2006 MLS Regular Season follows. This replaces previous versions and includes the changes in the table below. Note that HDnet broadcasts for the second half of the season will be announced at a later date. Since Feb. 8, when the regular season was announced, the following changes have been made:

Embrace the Colors of MLS
Season 11 marks a turning point in the League's history, as MLS leaves behind its nascent years and heads toward a bright future as one of the world's top soccer leagues. The season coincides with the world's largest sporting event, the FIFA World Cup 2006, taking place from June 9 to July 9 in Germany. To celebrate, MLS has unveiled its Embrace the Colors campaign, highlighting the international flavor - the love for the colors of club and country - that characterizes Major League Soccer.
