LAST WEEK: Binghamton split their two games last week, beating Albany 5-3 on Wednesday and losing 9-3 in Syracuse on Friday.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22ND vs. ALBANY (5-3 W): Albany opened up a 2-0 lead when AHREN NITTEL scored his 12th goal of the season at 6:07 of the second period. But a little more than a minute later, BOBBY ROBINS scored his first professional goal to pull the Senators to within one and defenseman FILIP NOVAK then tied the score about three minutes later with a power-play goal. The home team then scored twice in the first 2:25 of the third period to put the game out of reach for the River Rats. DANNY BOIS tallied his 16th goal and CHARLIE STEPHENS got his 20th before ALEXANDER MOGILNY scored his fourth AHL goal to keep Albany close. ROBINS second goal of the game ensured the rookie of first-star honors and gave Binghamton a 5-3 lead that it would not relinquish. KELLY GUARD stopped 35 of 38 shots in the win, his 21st of the season, while ARI AHONEN made 43 saves on 48 shots. Both teams scored one power-play goal with Binghamton receiving six opportunities and Albany getting seven tries.

FRIDAY, MARCH 24TH @ SYRACUSE (3-9 L): Binghamton was beaten 9-3 on Friday despite outshooting the Crunch by a total of 52 to 30. DENIS HAMEL scored twice, his 47th and 48th goals of the season, and JEFF HEEREMA had Binghamton's other lone tally. Syracuse center PETER SARNO had five assists to earn the game's first star while JOE MOTZKO had one goal and three assists. Both SARNO and MOTZKO along with defenseman ANDY DELMORE finished the game with a +4 rating. BILLY THOMPSON started the game and stopped seven of 10 shots before being pulled in favor of KELLY GUARD who stopped 14 of 20 shots and took the loss. Binghamton scored on two of seven power plays while the Crunch scored three times on nine opportunities. It was the second time this season that Syracuse has scored nine goals on the Senators.

THIS WEEK: The B-Sens will play for the first time in seven days on Friday when the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins make their final visit to the Arena of the 2005-06 regular season. Norfolk visits the following night before the Senators conclude the week with a game in Bridgeport on Sunday.

FRIDAY, MARCH 31ST vs. WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (7:05 p.m.): Binghamton broke a five-game regular season losing streak to the Penguins in their last meeting at the Arena on March 15. That game was the first of back-to-back 3-2 shootout wins as the Senators beat the Hershey Bears in the same manner two nights later. Center ERIK CHRISTENSEN leads all scorers in the series with eight points (3 goals, 5 assists). Binghamton has earned points in nine of its last 10 games against the East Division (7-1-1-1) dating back to a 2-1 win in Norfolk on Feb. 4

SATURDAY, APRIL 1ST vs. NORFOLK (7:05 p.m.): Norfolk makes its last regular season trip to the Arena on Saturday. DENIS HAMEL had four goals in the last meeting, a 7-4 win by the Sens at home on March 8. HAMEL leads all scorers with 16 points (11 goals, 5 assists) in seven games. Binghamton has now won two straight against the Admirals after losing the first five meetings of the season. The teams have combined to score 66 goals this season in seven games, an average of 9.43 goals per game.

SUNDAY, APRIL 2ND @ BRIDGEPORT (4:05 p.m.): The Sens enter the week 11 points behind Bridgeport for the final playoff spot in the East Division and will face the Sound Tigers two more times beginning Sunday on the road. Binghamton has won the last two meetings against Bridgeport after dropping the first two of the season. Defenseman FILIP NOVAK leads all players in scoring with 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) this season. Binghamton has an all-time record of 12-11-1-0-2 (W-L-T-OTL-SOL) against Bridgeport.

SENS SNIPPETS: DENIS HAMEL is closing in on the 50 goal mark. On Friday, in Syracuse, HAMEL scored his 47th and 48th goals of the season and cracked the 80-point mark for the first time in his professional career. Twenty three of those goals have been scored on the power play, putting HAMEL only four goals shy of tying the single season AHL record for power-play goals. He is also only six goals shy of tying DON BIGGS for the most goals by an AHL player in Binghamton hockey history. BIGGS scored 54 goals for the Binghamton Rangers during the 1992-93 season....Binghamton has won nine games when trailing after two periods this season... With a 7-3-1-1 record, the Senators have earned more points this month (16) than any other month this season. Previously this season, the Senators best month had been December when the Senators earned 15 points and had a 8-5-0-1 record.

SENS IN THE COMMUNITY: Join B-Sens players at Laurel Bowl in Binghamton on Tuesday, March 28th during a fundraiser for Sheila Kahl, who is in need of a lung transplant. The cost is $10 per person to join the B-Sens at the bowling alley. That includes bowling, shoe rental, pizza & soda...The Binghamton Senators will host their sixth and final media luncheon of the season on Tuesday at the Holiday Inn Arena. Scheduled guests include goalie KELLY GUARD and forward BOBBY ROBINS as well as coaches DAVE CAMERON and MIKE BUSNIUK.
