The San Antonio Rampage are currently the last place team in the 27-team AHL with a record of 18-36-2-4, 42 points. Three of their wins have come against Iowa, including a shootout win on Feb. 26th in Texas. At home they have a 10-17-2-1 record--- The Rampage have been outscored 190-114, a goal differential of 76 is second only to Springfield's 77--- San Antonio's penalty-kill is ranked 16th at 82%, while their power-play unit is 25th at 14.2%--- This is the eleventh time Iowa will play an opponent in back-to-back games. The Stars are 6-11-0-2 in those games--- The Rampage have used six goalies this season, with David LeNeveu seeing the bulk of the action, 24 games. He is 8-14-2 with a 3.07 GAA and .917 Save Percentage--- Layne Ulmer leads the team with 39 points, including a team-high 17 goals.

The Stars will meet the Bulldogs for the second and last time this season next Monday. The Stars defeated the Bulldogs 1-0 in Des Moines on November 19th--- At print time, the Bulldogs are currently 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games, pushing their record to 28-34-0-3. Their 59 points have them in sixth place in the Western Conference's North Division--- At home, Copps Coliseum, they are 14-16-0-1--- The Bulldogs are the only team in the 27 team AHL to have not registered a loss in overtime. Only six of their games have gone to overtime or shootout. They have three wins and three shootout losses--- Rookie Marc-Antoine Pouliot is one of only four rookies to lead their team in scoring. Pouliot leads the ‘Dogs with 28 assists and 43 points overall--- Hamilton leads the Western Conference with 1612 Penalty Minutes, while Iowa has the Conference's lowest total with 1208 PIM's---

The Stars and Monarchs play their final game against each other next Wednesday night in Manchester, New Hampshire. The Stars posted a 4-2 win in Des Moines on January 21st--- Manchester is 35-21-2-4 this season. Their 76 points is good for Third Place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division--- The Monarchs are the least penalized team in the entire 27-team AHL, with just 993 PIM's--- The Monarchs have the League's second-worst power-play. The 26th ranked Monarchs have scored 50 PPG on 362 opportunities, or 13.8%. Their penalty-kill is ranked 14th, allowing 66 PPG in 387 man-down situations (82.9%)--- Brad Smyth, averaging 1.02 points per game, leads Manchester with 63 points. The veteran forward has a team-leading 27 goals and 36 assists in 62 games: 62(27/36/63).

STAR DUST:
-With a 3-1 win on Sunday, Iowa pushed their record when leading after two periods to 20-2-1-2, including a 12-1-1-2 record at Wells Fargo Arena.
-The Stars are now 5-1-0-2 in Sunday games, including a 4-1-0-0 mark at home.
-Manchester is the only team from the Eastern Conference the Stars play this season.
-Toby Petersen, Loui Eriksson, and Junior Lessard with 19 goals apiece. Petersen leads the team with 50 points overall.
-Goaltender Mike Smith tied an AHL record when he recorded three assists in the Stars game last Friday. He joins three other AHL goalies, most recently Martin Brodeur of the NHL's New Jersey Devils. Brodeur, then of the Utica Devils (AHL), accomplished the feat on January 23rd , 1993 at Adirondack Red Wings (AHL).

LOOKING BACK AT WEEK 22: 2 WINS, 2 LOSSES, 1 SHOOTOUT LOSS

2/28/06 - The Iowa Stars and the Rochester Americans met for their only regular season game at Wells Fargo Arena on Tuesday night. Despite out-shooting the Americans 40-28, the Stars dropped a 5-4 decision. Defenseman Dan Jancevski had his four-game pointsstreak snapped. The Stars Captain posted five assists in that span. Forward Mathias Tjarnqvist scored at 1:47 into the first period. The Swede's 15th goal of the season is now the quickest goal scored by the Stars to open a game. Goaltender Dan Ellis faced 28 shots in the loss.

3/1/06 - The Iowa Stars played their second game in as many nights Wednesday night in Milwaukee against the Admirals. Although they scored the first goal of the game, the Stars dropped a 3-1 decision to the Admirals.

3/3/06 - The Iowa Stars and Peoria Rivermen met for the eighth time this season on Friday night in Illinois. Behind a spectacular 35 save performance by goaltender Mike Smith, the Iowa Stars posted a 6-1 victory. Not only did the Kingston, Ontario native make 35 saves, he also tied an AHL record with three assists in a single game by a goaltender. He joins three other AHL goalies, most recently Martin Brodeur of the NHL's New Jersey Devils. Brodeur, then of the Utica Devils (AHL), accomplished the feat on January 23rd , 1993 at Adirondack Red Wings (AHL). Smith has six assists on the season. David Oliver registered two goals, while Brian Fahey and Mathias Tjarnqvist had two assists.

3/4/06 - The Iowa Stars welcomed the Manitoba Moose to Wells Fargo Arena for the first time this season on Saturday night. For the tenth time this season, the Stars needed a shootout to decide a winner. Iowa was unable to score during the shootout, ultimately losing 4-3 and sending their record in shootouts to 4-6. Goalie Mike Smith faced 36 shots, including 24 combined in the first two periods. Including Saturday's loss, four of Smith's shootout losses have been by the score of 4-3 (Dec. 3rd vs. PEO, Feb. 12th @ PEO, Feb. 26th at SAN).

3/5/06 - The Iowa Stars concluded their brief two-game home-stand with a game against the Manitoba Moose on Sunday afternoon. Iowa rebounded from a 4-3 shootout loss to the Moose last night by posting a convincing 3-1 win over the Western Conference's fourth place team. After Krys Barch gave Iowa a 1-0 lead, AHL All-Star Junior Lessard gave Iowa a 2-0 lead just four minutes later. The power-play goal was his 19th goal of the season, tying him with Toby Petersen and Loui Eriksson for the team lead. With a 2-1 lead going into the third period, Iowa received a third period goal by Marius Holtet and pushed their record when leading after two periods to 20-2-1-2. Goaltender Dan Ellis was named the Number One Star of the Game, stopping 33 shots. The 3-1 win was Ellis' first win since January 13th in Houston and snapped a six-game personal winless streak.
