Wynne undergoes successful hernia procedure

SECAUCUS, NJ (Wednesday, March 1, 2006) - MetroStars defender Marvell Wynne underwent a successful procedure today in Munich, Germany to repair a right side inguinal hernia injury or "sports hernia". Dr. Ulrike Muschaweck performed a Minimal Repair Technique on the 2006 MLS SuperDraft first overall pick, which is a procedure developed and performed exclusively by Dr. Muschaweck. Muschaweck has performed this same procedure on over 1500 athletes.
The MetroStars sent Wynne to see the specialist after the player felt discomfort during preseason workouts.
Wynne, 20, will join the team in Los Angeles on Friday, March 3 to begin rehab. The timetable on his full return is put at 1-2 weeks.
The MetroStars depart for Los Angeles today, March 1, and will be training at the Home Depot Center until Thursday, March 9.
