New England Revolution News Release

Foxborough, Mass. - The New England Revolution selected four players in today's 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft. The draft was held via teleconference from league headquarters in New York City. All players who were eligible and not selected in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft - which was held on Friday, January 20 - and additional players nominated by teams were eligible for selection in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft. The original order of the four-round MLS Supplemental Draft is determined from the reverse order of finish following the 2005 season.

In Round One of the Supplemental Draft (11th overall pick), the Revolution selected defender/midfielder Danny Wynn out of St. Louis University. At the conclusion of his senior season with Billikens, Wynn was named first-team All-Atlantic 10 Conference. He was fifth on the 2005 Billikens in scoring with a career-high 10 points (2G, 6A) and his two goals were also a career high. Wynn collected 20 career points at St. Louis (3G, 14A) in 61 games. Wynn can play as a right-sided defender or midfielder as well as in the central defense.

In Round Two (23rd overall), the Revs chose central defender John Queeley out of North Carolina State University. An imposing center back, Queeley started every game in which he played at N.C. State (2002-05) for a total of 68 appearances in four seasons for the Wolfpack. In his senior year, 2005, Queeley scored two goals to go with 8 assists.

The Revolution's Round Three pick (35th overall) was Adam Williamson, a midfielder out of Lehigh University. The 2005 Patriot League Player of the Year as a senior, as a junior Williamson was named as a First Team Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American Team selection and made the First Team Patriot League All-League Team, an honor that he would repeat as a senior. Williamson was a standout participant in the Revolution's tryout at Dana-Farber Field House at Gillette Stadium on January 5.

The Revs also took defender/midfielder Matt Wieland out of Creighton University (Round Four, 47th overall). A Third team NSCAA All-America selection in his senior season (2005), Wieland also won a Premier Development League national championship with the Des Moines Menace.

"The Supplemental Draft is a great way to augment our squad," said Revolution head coach Steve Nicol. "We like all four players we took and look forward to seeing what they can do in a professional environment."

The Revolution is currently training in Foxborough in preparation for the CONCACAF Champions Cup and the 2006 MLS Season. Media who wish to attend Revolution training sessions are asked to call Brad Feldman in the Revolution Communications office at 508-384-9216 to confirm attendance.
