Arizona Sting News Release

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Arizona Sting announced today that the ceremonial ball drop at their home opener on Friday, January 13, will be performed by Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson.

Wilson is coming off of a breakthrough season in which he recorded 112 tackles, 8 sacks, 9 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and an interception for the Cardinals. The 8 sacks he registered set a record for most sacks in a season by a safety. A product of North Carolina State, Wilson has played five seasons in the NFL. In 2004, he started all 16 games for Arizona and finished second on the team with 99 tackles.

Tomorrow night's festivities will also include a ceremonial banner raising, honoring the Sting's West Division Championship from last season. Game time is set for 7:30pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm.

The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). In only their second season in Arizona (after relocating from Columbus, Ohio), the Sting finished the 2005 season with a 9-7 regular-season record prior to going on to win the West Division Championship before losing to the Toronto Rock in the Champion's Cup Final (NLL title game).
