December 19, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Stars defeated the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena. The win was the Stars fourth-in-a-row, their fourth consecutive against Omaha, and capped a three-in-three weekend with Iowa outscoring their opponents, 10-3.

Kyle Brodziak put the Stars on the board first at 4:43 of the second period. It was the center's third goal of the season, snapping a six-game goalless drought. Rookie Jamie Johnson gave the Stars a 2-0 lead just under two minutes later, with Brodziak picking-up an assist. Exactly 20 minutes later, with Omaha on a 5-3 power-play, the Knights David Moss was finally able to sneak one past Stars goalie, Dan Ellis. From that point on, Ellis became impenetrable, ultimately stopping 23 of 24 Omaha shots.

Junior Lessard put the game away with an empty-net goal at 18:03 of the third period. Johnson registered an assist on the Lessard goal.

Sunday's win tied a franchise record from consecutive wins, while also improving their record to 4-3 against Omaha. Stars goalie Dan Ellis appeared in all three Iowa games this weekend, allowing just three goals, all on the power-play, on 96 total shots. His three game totals reflect a .969 Save Percentage and a 1.00 Goals Against Average. From a personal standpoint, Ellis has now earned the victory in six of his last seven games.

Following tonight's game, the entire Iowa Stars team participated in a giant on-ice autograph session for all the fans in attendance.

Attendance was 3,694. Power-play chances: IOWA: 1 for 7; OMAHA: 1 for 8
