Ice Pilots Win 4-3 vs Charlotte

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots on Saturday night defeated the Charlotte Checkers 4-3 at the Pensacola Civic Center.

Ryan Fultz would score the first goal of the game at the 2:46 mark of the first period to give the Checkers a 1-0 lead. Corey Neilson would tie the game with a power play goal at the 10:42 mark of the first period and Bryson Busniuk would tip in a shot on a pass by Brian Collins at the 14:45 mark of the first to give the Ice Pilots a 2-1 lead. Hugh Jessiman would score for Charlotte with 1:27 left in the first period to tie the game at 2.

Brendan Cook would score his eighth goal of the season at the 3:16 mark of the second period to give the Ice Pilots a 3-2 lead. Adam Courchaine would tip in a shot from David Turon at the 17:27 mark of the second period to give the Ice Pilots a 4-2 lead.

Hugh Jessiman scored his second goal of the game with 2:58 left in regulation to make it 4-3. The Ice Pilots held on as Charlotte pulled their goalie for the extra attacker and the Ice Pilots won their ninth game of the year defeating Charlotte 4-3.

The Ice Pilots had 36 shots on goal, 8 penalty minutes and went 1-5 on the power play. Charlotte had 36 shots on goal, 16 penalty minutes and went 1-4 on the power play. Todd Ford was the winning goalie and Al Montoya took the loss in goal for Charlotte.

The Ice Pilots improved their record to 9-11-3 for 21 points and Charlotte dropped their record to 10-8-1 for 21 points. The Ice Pilots will host Gwinnett on Wednesday night at the Pensacola Civic Center at 7:05 p.m.
