Stanley Cup To Visit Sports Café and King Street Grille After the Rays Game Sunday

December 9, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL) South Carolina Stingrays

North Charleston, SC The Stanley Cup will visit the Sports Café and the King Street Grille on Sunday evening after the Stingrays game. The Cup will be at Sports Café on Montague Avenue in North Charleston from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM and at the King Street Grille on King Street in Charleston from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

The Cup will visit the Stingrays and their fans this Sunday, December 11th when the Rays host Greenville at 3:00. South Carolina has three Sunday "Kids Days" remaining this season featuring skate with the Rays and the entertainment of Jumping Jack and Friends.

Season Ticket Holders and Corporate Sponsors can get a private preview of the Stanley Cup in the Stingrays Hall of Fame Lounge on Sunday beginning at 1:30, with free hors d'oeuvres and soft drinks. The Cup will be moved onto the concourse at 3:00 PM.

All proceeds will benefit charities assisting in hurricane relief efforts including, but not limited to, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and United Way. This tour is another addition to the National Hockey League's charitable efforts, which have included a joint donation with the NHL Players' Association of $1 million to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief.

Hockey's most famous trophy will be the center of various activities throughout the tour: visits to schools, media appearances and private showings. The "Keeper of the Cup" from the Hockey Hall of Fame also will be available to answer questions and talk about the history of hockey. Fans will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with the Stanley Cup and make a monetary donation towards hurricane relief.

"I would like to thank Commissioner Gary Bettman and the National Hockey League, the NHL Players' Association and the Hockey Hall of Fame for their role in raising the level of awareness and assistance for people in both Mississippi and Southeast Texas, two ECHL markets hard hit by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We encourage fans in all participating cities to come see professional sport's most famous trophy and help in fundraising at the same time," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna.

After traveling to Charlotte Tonight, the Rays will return home to face the Trenton Titans on Saturday and host Greenville on Sunday at 3:00. A variety of season ticket and group ticket packages are still available. For ticket information contact the Stingrays office at 744-2248 or log on to www.stingrayshockey.com.
