Ice Pilots Win in Overtime At Columbia 4-3

Pensacola, FL - The Ice Pilots battled back on Friday night in Columbia to defeat the Inferno 4-3 in overtime in front of 2,647 fans.
Chris Heid scored the game winning goal 1:51 seconds into overtime on an odd man rush. Heid scored on a hard slap shot from the left wing circle to give the Ice Pilots a 4-3 win.
The Ice Pilots scored two power play goals in the third period to tie the game at 3. Corey Neilson scored at 2:56 of the third on a hard blast from inside the blue line and Chris St. Jacques scored at the 4:46 mark of the third tipping in a shot by Corey Neilson.
The Ice Pilots would score the first goal of the game 2:32 seconds into the game. Dominic Noel tipped in a shot in front of the net from Corey Neilson's blast from the right point. Brandon Nolan would tie the game for Columbia on the power play with 1:54 seconds left in the first period. Nolan roofed the puck into the top right corner of the goal as Ice Pilots goalie Todd Ford went down on the ice.
Columbia would take a 2-1 lead in the second period on a goal by John Longo scoring right off the face off between the circles at the 5:52 mark. Brandon Nolan would score his second goal of the game at the 11:14 mark to give Columbia a 3-1 lead.
The Ice Pilots improved their record to 4-7-1 for 9 points and Columbia's record stands at 8-5-2 for 18 points. Todd Ford was the winning goalie for the Ice Pilots and Chris Houle picked up the overtime loss in goal for Columbia. The Ice Pilots had 25 shots on goal and went 2-8 on the power play. Columbia had 38 shots on goal and went 1-8 on the power play.
The Ice Pilots will continue their five game road trip on Saturday night vs. Gwinnett at 6:35 p.m. central time. Fans will be able to listen to the game on the Ice Pilots Hockey Network beginning with the pre game show at 6:20 p.m. with flagshp station AM 1620 and at www.icepilots.com sponsored by Sports Avenue. The game is also available at www.icepilots.com as a pay per view webcast for $6 in conjunction with B2 Networks.
The Ice Pilots will return home to play Bakersfield in three games on December 2, 3 and 4. It is the Triple Play Jackpot Weekend with $15,000 to be given away. $5,000 will be given away each night.
