Nash, Wondolowski In Tanzania

Earthquakes rookies Julian Nash and Chris Wondolowski are currently in Tanzania on a tour with the Seattle Sounders until December 3. The Sounders have played two games so far on the tour, tying 1-1 with the Tanzanian National Team and losing 5-1 to Tanzanian Premier League champs Yanga. Wondolowski had an apparent goal called back against the national team in the tie. The Sounders have one final game this Thursday on the tour against Simba. Following the game, the team will conduct soccer clinics in different communities the rest of the week, before embarking on a four-day safari on Monday, Nov. 28, organized by the Tanzanian Tourist Bureau. Wondolowski and Nash will return to the Bay Area on December 3.

De Rosario Helps Canada To Win

Earthquakes 2005 Honda Most Valuable Player Dwayne De Rosario started and played 90 minutes in the midfield for the Canadian national team last Wednesday night, helping Canada to a 1-0 victory over Luxembourg in an international friendly at Stade Alphonse Theis in Hesperange, Luxembourg. De Rosario registered the assist on Canada's lone goal in the 69th minute, collecting a ball in the middle of the field and quickly advancing toward the Luxembourg defense. The MLS MVP runner-up found Ian Hume on the left side and the striker sped into the Luxembourg penalty area. Hume then chipped a shot over the goalkeeper and into the side netting. De Rosario and the Canadians will be back in action on March 1, 2006 in an international friendly against Austria. The match will be played at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, Austria.

Scouting

Earthquakes head coach Dominic Kinnear and assistant coach John Doyle have spent the last week scouting the local colleges in the NCAA tournament. The pair watched Santa Clara win their opening round game last Friday night against Ohio State, before taking in the Santa Clara - CAL game on Tuesday. Prior to this week, Kinnear spent part of the week leading up to MLS Cup scouting the ACC Tournament in North Carolina, before heading toe Texas for the weekend festivities. Both Kinnear and Doyle will attend the NCAA College Cup in Cary, NC the weekend of Dec. 9 - 11.

Earthquakes Waive Two Players

The San Jose Earthquakes placed forward Roger Levesque and midfielder Orlando Ramirez on waivers last week. The Quakes will retain their MLS rights for 12 months. Levesque, 24, appeared in four games for San Jose from 2003-2005, playing 55 total minutes. The former Stanford University star was loaned to the USL-First Division Seattle Sounders in 2004 and 2005, leading the Sounders to the USL Championship this season with four playoff goals. The Portland, Maine native appeared in five reserve league games for the Quakes in 2005. Ramirez, 22, did not appear in an MLS game for the Quakes in his rookie season, but played all 12 reserve league games for San Jose in 2005, scoring one goal.
