Colorado Rapids News Release

DENVER, CO (Tuesday, November 15, 2005) - The Colorado Rapids announced today that the club's players, coaches, staff and their families, along with RapidMan and the Rapids Cheerleaders, will take part in the COMPA Food Ministry's 25th Annual Thanksgiving Outreach at the Denver Stock Show Complex on Saturday, November 19.

The Rapids players, coaches, staff, cheerleaders and RapidMan will take turns bagging up donated Thanksgiving meals that will be hand-delivered to thousands of families around Denver who are not able to afford Thanksgiving meals for their families!

This will be the 5th straight year that the Rapids take part in the COMPA Food Ministry's Annual Thanksgiving Outreach, the largest Thanksgiving Meal Donation program of its kind in the Western United States and one of the biggest in the country. The event will take place on Saturday, November 19th from 9:00am-noon (MT) at the National Western Stock Show Complex.

The Annual Outreach feeds around 60,000 needy individuals who could not normally afford a Thanksgiving meal. The Rapids will provide players, coaches, front office staff and RapidMan to be on hand to help bag and deliver Thanksgiving meals to the thousands of families who have been nominated by their community to receive donated meals.

This year's 25th annual COMPA Thanksgiving Outreach is a community-wide effort to provide traditional holiday food to needy families in the Rocky Mountain Region. November 19th will be the culmination of a succession of events that began back in September with the nomination of needy families, the organization of food drives, and the collection of financial gifts. The Outreach has helped impact hunger around the holiday season since 1981.

The Colorado Rapids Community Relations Department supports many events like this one during the course of every year. The mission of the Rapids Community Relations Department is to strengthen the bond between the franchise and Colorado's charitable organizations, and to continue to build upon the extensive grassroots efforts of the club. It is the team's desire to be able to continually give back to our local community which has so faithfully supported the Rapids since the team's inception in 1996.
