COLUMBIA, SC (September 28, 2005) - The Columbia Inferno announce the signing of defensemen Eric Nelson and Gary Gladue.

Nelson, 6'1, 200 lbs. Big Lake, Minnesota native played 70 games with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies last year, scoring one goal and six assists in his rookie season. Prior to joining the ECHL, he played his collegiate years with the University of Connecticut from 2000-2004.

"Having seen Eric play in the North Division last year, I know that he is a stay at home defenseman with some offensive upside," said Head Coach Ted Dent. "Being a second year pro, we expect Eric to come into Columbia to help solidify our defense."

Entering his first season in the ECHL, Gladue has played the last six years in the Western Hockey League. The 6'0, 170 lbs., Coquitlam, British Columbia native played in 72 games with the Spokane Chiefs last year. He scored six goals and contributed 23 assists for the year. Gladue also will be attending the Cleveland Barons training camp of the American Hockey League this week.

"Gary is a young player that has attended the Vancouver Canucks training camp the past two years and is coming off a successful career in the Western Hockey League. We are looking for Gary to come in and make the adjustment to the pro game and contribute with the Inferno this season," said Coach Dent.
