Headlines: Bats break out for 14 runs; Kinsler has 4 RBIs; Lee starts tonight

TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Las Vegas 51s are the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1983. Last year they were 67-76 and finished third in the PCL South.

TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks begin a four-game series with Las Vegas . The RedHawks are 8-19 in series openers and 2-12 in series openers on the road, losing their last six. They are 4-11 on travel days and 6-10 on Saturdays.

STANDINGS: The RedHawks are in third place, six games behind Albuquerque .

LAST GAME: After being shutout in two straight games, the RedHawks beat Tucson 14-4. Ian Kinsler went two-for-six with a home run and four RBIs. Chad Allen went three-for-five with a double, home runs and two RBIs. R.A. Dickey went six innings and gave up four runs on six hits with five strikeouts. Relievers Michael Tejera and Jose Veras didn't allow a baserunner over three innings.

VS. LAS VEGAS: The RedHawks are 19-25 against the 51s/Stars and 10-14 all-time in Las Vegas . Last year, the 51s took three of four from the RedHawks. Chad Allen went 8-for-20 [.400] with a double, triple, home run and five RBIs in four games against Las Vegas last season. Jason Conti went 6-for-17 [.353] with two home runs and six RBIs against them last year.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Oklahoma 's Derek Lee makes his eighth start for the RedHawks this year. In his last four starts, he is 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA [10ER, 24.2IP]. He threw a three-hit shutout July 20 at New Orleans. He gave up eight runs in 3.1 innings July 5 at Albuquerque, but has given up two earned runs in 22 innings [0.82ERA] in his other three road starts. Eric Stults starts for Las Vegas .

STREAKERS: Infielder Marshall McDougall is on a season-high 13-game hitting streak dating back to June 28. He is 19-for-49 [.388] with 18 RBIs during the streak, raising his average from .320 to .337. He is also on an 11-game road hitting streak ... Relief pitcher Kelvin Jimenez has not given up a run since July 5 at Albuquerque [six outings, 10.2 innings] ... Relief pitcher Hector Mercado has not given up an earned run since July 10 at Omaha [five outings, seven innings].

TOP FOUR: The one through four hitters in the RedHawk lineup combined to go 10-for-19 [.526] with three doubles, two home runs, nine RBIs and eight runs scored. In the previous two games, the top four in the order combined to go 6-for-31 [.194].

BULLPEN: In the last 11 games, the bullpen is 1-0-3 with a 1.02 ERA [4ER, 35.1IP] with 11 walks and 29 strikeouts. The RedHawks are 7-4 in their last 11 games.

CHAD ALLEN: In his last 10 games, Chad Allen is 19-for-44 [.432] with five doubles, three home runs and 11 RBIs. He has hits in eight of those games, all multi-hit games. He has five two-hit games and three three-hit games in his last 10 games.

ATTENDANCE: Through 51 home openings, the RedHawks have drawn 400,180 fans, an average of 7,846. Last year, they averaged 6,678 fans. In 1998, they averaged a franchise-record 7,192.

DOT-DOT-DOTS: The RedHawks have used 30 pitchers so far this season. They used 30 all of last season ... Jason Botts' seven triples this year ties the single-season RedHawks record set by Kelly Dransfeldt in 2002 ... Ian Kinsler had a four-RBI game last night. He has five of the team's 15 four-RBI games this season ... The RedHawks had more runs in the first two innings of last night's game [six] than they had in the previous three games [five] ... All of the RedHawks' runs last night came after two were out ... Since being optioned July 25, Marshall McDougall has played a game at shortstop, a game at third base and three games at left field.
