Fisher Cats fall in 11, lose 3-2 at Bowie

June 24, 2005 - Eastern League (EL) New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Second baseman Omar Rogers drove in all three runs, including the game-winner with a single in the bottom of the 11th inning as the Bowie Baysox topped the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3-2 Friday night before 7,280 at Prince Georges Stadium.

Rogers singled up the middle with the bases loaded off Fisher Cat reliever Jordan DeJong (0-3). DeJong, who came on to pitch the 11th, walked the first two batters he faced before giving up consecutive singles to right fielder Woody Cliffords and Rogers.

Rogers (2-for-5, 3 RBI) also doubled in two runs in the third inning off starter Cam Reimers, who then worked into the eighth without yielding any more runs or hits. Relievers Jesse Carlson and newcomer Tracy Thorpe also worked shutout innings for New Hampshire.

The Fisher Cats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a bases loaded walk to shortstop Raul Tablado. Clint Johnston's solo homer off starter Cory Morris made it 2-0 in the third.

Bowie (36-38) also received solid relief pitching. Scott Rice worked 2.1 shutout innings in relief, and Chris Piersoll (1-0) earned his first win by throwing three shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out three.

New Hampshire (38-35) left ten runners on base.

The Fisher Cats, now two games behind first place Trenton in the Northern Division, will throw Ismael Ramirez (5-8, 4.29) against the Baysox left hander Kurt Birkins (4-5, 4.24).

Game time is 7:05pm and can be heard on flagship WKBR 1250AM and www.wkxl1450.com with Bob Lipman at 6:55pm.

New Hampshire will return home on Friday, July 1 to play the Altoona Curve.
