16 get their dancin’ shoes on

March 21, 2005 - Golden Baseball League (GBL) Yuma Scorpions

(Yuma, AZ) – The Yuma Scorpions have announced the sixteen dancers that will make up the first-ever Lady Scorpions' Dance Team-sponsored by State Farm Insurance. The dancers survived the final cuts after two days of tryouts last week that saw nearly 60 women and men strut their stuff.

"This was an extremely tough choice for everyone," said Lady Scorpions' Dance Coordinator Lisa Aho. "Even the celebrity judges-who were coming to the tryouts to just have fun-realized early on just how talented the contestants all were, and how difficult it was going to be to figure out who was the best of the best."

Aho-along with a panel of judges consisting of other dance coordinators, media, and representatives from State Farm Insurance-judged the contestants on everything from overall ability to presentation.

"We're so pleased with the response. So many great dancers-young and old-took part," remarked Aho. "Because of the talent level at the tryouts, we think the 16 that made it are really going to come together well, and make an immediate impact with the fans at Scorpions' games and everywhere else."

The Lady Scorpions' Dance Team will not only be appearing at all 50 home games during the Scorpions' 2005 season, but will also be making community appearances during the season-both when the team is at home and on the road. They'll also make community appearances during the off-season.
