January 26, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Connecticut Whale News Release

HARTFORD, January 26, 2005: The Hartford Wolf Pack figure front and center - or goal and defense - in voting for the Canadian Team in the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic. Goaltender Jason LaBarbera and defenseman Lawrence Nycholat have been named starters for the game that will take place in Manchester, New Hampshire on February 14. The Wolf Pack is the only team to put two starters in the Canadian lineup, which was determined by fan voting. A committee of coaches selected the remainder of the roster.

Rounding out the starting line for Canada: Worcester's Dennis Wideman, Manchester's Mike Cammalleri, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Michel Ouellet and Binghamton's Jason Spezza.

Last year's league MVP and Baz Bastien Award (top goaltender) winner Jason LaBarbera currently has a record of 20-6-1 and a 1.90 GAA. A native of Burnaby, British Columbia, LaBarbera has a record of 80-44-17 with 19 shutouts in 158 career appearances.

Anchoring one of the stingiest defenses in the AHL over the last two seasons, Lawrence Nycholat is currently tied for third in team scoring with 28 points for the Wolf Pack, and is tied for fourth among league defenseman. The 25-year old Calgary native made his NHL debut with the New York Rangers last season and was the top-scoring blueliner for the regular season conference champion Wolf Pack last season.

The PlanetUSA team will be announced tomorrow.

The AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack hockey club is part of Madison Square Garden LP. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in MSG LP, which also includes the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Liberty (WNBA), the MSG Network, Fox Sports Net and the Madison Square Garden arena complex.
