LAREDO, Texas – The Central Hockey League, the Laredo Bucks, the City of Laredo and Fox Sports Net Southwest announced today that the 2005 Dodge CHL All-Star Game will be televised on FSNSW. The game will be rebroadcast on Friday, January 14th, at 7 p.m. and will be featured in all of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and parts of eastern New Mexico. “We are very excited about our partnership with FSNSW in conjuction with the upcoming 2005 Dodge CHL All-Star Game,” stated CHL President Brad Treliving. “This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent within the Central Hockey League to our loyal fan base throughout the FSNSW region.”

FSN Southwest reaches over 8.1 million cable and satellite TV homes in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Viewers living outside of the Southwest region who subscribe to either DirecTV's or DISH Network's satellite TV sports packages can watch the game on January 14th on DirecTV Channel 643 or DISH Network Channel 416.

“With the absence of the NHL, televising the 2005 Dodge CHL All-Star game is a great opportunity for hockey fans to stay connected with the game,” said FSN Southwest Senior Vice President/General Manager Jon Heidtke. “We're excited about the event, especially since 12 of the 17 CHL teams are within our viewing territory, allowing us to continue our commitment to growing our regional coverage.”

FSNSW is home to the NBA San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. FSNSW also is the home of the NHL Dallas Stars. Stars broadcasts are consistently rated in the top ten in the NHL.

“The Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau is spearheading the coordination for the advertising for the television spots during the broadcast,” Director of Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau Nick Reyna said. “This is a great opportunity to showcase all of Laredo’s various attractions during the telecast.”

The WPHL All-Star Game in 2000 in Amarillo was broadcast on FSNSW. In 1999 the WPHL All-Star Game in Austin was also broadcast on FSNSW. The CHL and WPHL merged after the 2000-2001 season.

“We have been looking forward to showcasing the Laredo Entertainment Center to the rest of the CHL,” Bucks President John Beckelhymer said. “This chance to showcase the LEC and also the Cities of Laredo and Nuevo Laredo is a terrific opportunity with FSNSW. We will do our best to impress with all ‘Dos Laredos’ has to offer.”

The 2005 Dodge CHL All-Star Game starters for the Northern and Southern Conferences were announced earlier today with Bucks forward Brent Cullaton selected to start for the Southern Conference.

All-Star Game head coaches, along with the CHLÂ’s Hockey Operations staff, will help select the non-starters for the Northern and Southern Conference squads, which will be announced next week.
