Rampage recall Chris Nielsen from Laredo

SAN ANTONIO – Nov. 09, 2004 – The San Antonio Rampage announced today that the club has recalled former National Hockey League (NHL) player Chris Nielsen from the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League (CHL). The Bucks are the CHL affiliate of the San Antonio Rampage.

Nielsen, 24, has played in all seven games with Laredo this season, registering four assists and four penalty minutes (PIM).

The 6-foot-2, 204-pound right wing was a second round pick, 36th overall, by the New York Islanders in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. Nielsen spent parts of the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL scoring five goals and adding six assists (6-5-11) in 52 games. In his AHL career, Nielsen has scored 33-47-80 in four seasons. Last season, Nielsen spent 72 AHL games with the Manitoba Moose (AHL), notching 4-7-11 totals.

Nielsen, a native of Tanzania, Africa, signed an AHL contract with the Rampage on Oct. 21, 2004 and was assigned to Laredo that same day.

The Rampage (5-5-2-0) host the 2004 AHL Calder Cup Champion Milwaukee Admirals on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. (CST).
