Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER – The National Lacrosse League’s top goaltender and a promising, young forward are back with the Colorado Mammoth, the team announced today.

The Mammoth has signed 2004 NLL goaltender of the year Gee Nash and forward Nick Carlson. “I’m very pleased to welcome back both of these very talented players,” Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. “Gee is the premier player at his position and gives this team the confidence and ability to win every single game. Meanwhile, Nick teased us with his ability before being injured last season and we can’t wait to see him out there again.”

Nash was 11-3 in 2004 – his first season with the Mammoth – and led the league with a .790 saves percentage. He ranked third with a 10.68 goals-against average and backstopped the Mammoth defense that allowed just 173 goals, fewest in the NLL.

Carlson, whose speed makes him a valuable transition player, came to the Mammoth before last season after collecting 14 points in 12 games as a rookie with New York in 2003. In his first season in Colorado he tallied 11 points on two goals and nine assists before suffering a season-ending knee injury that held him out of the teamÂ’s last five regular season games and the playoffs.
