November 2, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release

The Providence Bruins announced today that center Keith Aucoin will return to the team on a tryout contract. The Bruins’ 2002-03 leading scorer will join the team on Thursday in Norfolk, and will be in the lineup for this weekend’s games in Norfolk and Hershey. Aucoin has been with the Memphis River Kings (CHL), where he leads the team and is tied for the league lead in scoring with 4-5-9 totals in five games.

“We’re happy to have Keith come back to Providence,” said Bruins head coach Scott Gordon. “He was our top scorer in 2002-03, and was obviously a big part of our team that won the North Division title. Keith is a very skilled playmaker and a strong competitor, and we look forward to seeing him in our lineup.”

Aucoin, who turns 26 on Saturday, is in his fourth professional season out of Norwich (VT) University. He racked up 114-124-238 totals in 116 games at Norwich from 1997-2001, making him the school’s all-time leader in goals, assists and points. He began his professional career in 2001-02, splitting the season between the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL) and B.C. (NY) Icemen of the UHL. Aucoin was named to the UHL All-Rookie Team after posting 23-35-58 totals in just 44 games.

Aucoin joined the Bruins for the 2002-03 season, and led the team, while tying for eighth in the AHL, with 25-49-74 totals in 78 games. He was voted by Bruin fans as the recipient of the Hendricks Memorial Fan Appreciation Award.

Aucoin played the 2003-04 season with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, finishing second on the club with 18-30-48 totals in 80 games.

Bruin fans can hear Aucoin tonight on “Providence Bruins Weekly Presented by National City Mortgage.” The show airs from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on WSKO AM-790, The Score. The show will also feature Bruins head coach Scott Gordon, newly signed left wing Dan LaCouture and Providence-Journal beat writer Joe McDonald.
