THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTSÂ…

The Edmonton Roadrunners (Edmonton) are 2nd in the North Division with 12 points and have a 5-2-1-1 recordÂ… This will be the first meeting between these two teams since Edmonton relocated the Roadrunners from Toronto to the city of ChampionsÂ… The Roadrunners are currently winless in their last three games and are coming off a 5-4 shoot-out loss against the Houston AerosÂ… Right-winger Tony Salmelainen leads the Roadrunners with 12 points (5G,7A) in nine games including eight points in his last five gamesÂ… Goaltender Tyler Moss has a 3-1-1-1 record with a 2.33 Avg. and a .918 save percentage. The Maple Leafs and Roadrunner will meet each other 12 times this season.

NEXT WEEK'S OPPONENTSÂ…

The Chicago Wolves visit Mile One Stadium next Friday and Saturday, November 12th & 13th for the first and only time this season. Former St. John's Maple Leaf Lonny Bohonos who recently signed with the Wolves will make his return to the city. Game times are 7:35pm (NT).

MAPLE LEAFS PLAYER OF THE WEEKÂ…

The St. JohnÂ’s Maple Leafs have selected center Kyle Wellwood for the CCM / AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 31st. In four games last week Wellwood tallied nine points (6G,3A) including three powerplay goals, was a +3 and had 15 shots on net.

On Monday, Wellwood assisted on the Maple Leafs only goal of the game, Brad LeebÂ’s first of the season, in a 3-1 loss to the Manitoba Moose. The following evening, Wellwood scored the game-tying goal, a powerplay marker, and assisted on two other Leafs goals to defeat the Moose 4-2. Wellwood was selected 3rd Star of the game. Finally, on Saturday evening, Kyle Wellwood had a career game in setting a St. JohnÂ’s Maple Leafs franchise record with five goals, including two powerplay markers, to lead the team to an 8-3 win over the Cleveland Barons. Wellwood was named the 1st Star of the game.

Wellwood was drafted with TorontoÂ’s 6th choice, 134th overall in 2001. This is WellwoodÂ’s first nomination as CCM / AHL Player of the Week for 2004-05.

LEAFLETSÂ…

- St. John's is ranked 13th in the AHL with the man advantage and are 19th overall while killing penalties.

- St. John'as has scored 25 times this year while their opponents have tallied 29 times.

- The Maple Leafs are 3-2-0-1 on their current homestand. The team will play four more games at home before embarking on a 20 day - 10 game roadtrip November 16.

Kyle Wellwood (Center): Recorded nine points (6G,3A) in four games last week. Scored five goals in one game.

David Ling (RW): Ling recorded his 200th career assist against Cleveland. Had six points including five assist in four games last week.

Mikael Tellqvist (G): Tellqvist posted a 3-4-0-1 record, a 2.61 Avg. and a .915 save percentage in eight games during October.

Matt Stajan (Center): Stajan had four assists in four games last week. Stajan has seven points including three goals in nine games this season.

Harold Druken (LW): Druken had four points including three goals in four games last week.

THIS WEEK IN LEAFS HISTORYÂ…

November 3, 1991 - Todd Gillingham, Guy Lehoux and Yanic Perreault all score their first professional goals as the Leafs beat the Adirondack Red Wings 5-1 at Memorial Stadium. Gillingham and Perreault' s goals are scored with their parents watching in the stands.

November 5, 1993 - Due to a rash of injuries, Leafs equipment manager Rob McLean signs an amateur tryout contract and suits up for the Leafs in a 3-2 win over the P.E.I. Senators in Charlottetown.

November 3, 1995 - Rob Butz and Kent Manderville each score twice as the Leafs outlast the Oilers 7-5. The teams exchange seven goals, four by St. John's in a span of 2:56 early in the second period to set an AHL record for the fastest seven goals in a game.
