Wranglers finalize deal with RRISD for 2005 practice facility

AUSTIN—The Austin Wranglers and the Round Rock Independent School District have finalized details to an agreement that will make the RRISD Stadium the Wranglers practice facility for the 2005 Arena Football League season.
“RRISD Stadium provides the team with a good all-weather practice facility that will allow the team to remain on a consistent practice schedule throughout the AFL season,” said General Manager Glyn Milburn. “That consistency is critical in maintaining a competitive edge on game day.”
The Wranglers will start practicing in the state-of-the-art facility when the teamÂ’s training camp commences in January. The RRISD Stadium, located off Parmer Lane in North Austin, is currently in its second year of operation. It is home to middle school and high school varsity and sub-varsity sports such as football and boys and girls soccer. RRISD Stadium will be home for the upcoming UIL State Soccer tournament scheduled for April of 2005.
“This is a win-win situation for the Wranglers and Round Rock ISD,” said RRISD Athletic Director Kelly Reeves. “The Wranglers will have a fine facility to workout in and the district can collect rental fees when the stadium is generally not in use.”
In the teamÂ’s debut season, the Wranglers racked-up six wins in the teamÂ’s first nine games and finished with a commendable 8-8 record. The Wranglers are the first professional team to call the Frank Erwin Center home. During their 2004 campaign, the team averaged 11,120 fans per game at the Erwin Center.
