Johns hiring is an important acquisition for the Mechanics organization, said Mitch Rosen, co-owner of the Motor City Mechanics. With his experience and leadership, we not only look to succeed as a business but also as a known sports entity within the Metro Detroit market.
In his new role, Tull will direct the teams marketing and promotion efforts, manage the budgets, supervise ticket sales and serve as team spokesman. Tulls first initiatives in this capacity include the start of Mechanics training camp, pre-season games and launch of the teams inaugural season.

A native of South Bend, Indiana, Tulls professional sports accolades include winning the 1993 Bob Freitas Award for Best Class A Baseball Franchise; Vice President of the Dayton Bombers and Cincinnati Cyclones hockey teams; 2000-2002 West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) Executive of the Year Award, as President of the 2002 WCHL Taylor Cup Champion Fresno Falcons and setting back-to-back attendance records and organization of the year awards from 2000-2002 during his tenure with the Fresno Falcons. Last season, he served as President of the Arena Football 2 Leagues San Diego Riptide.
Tull earned his undergraduate degree from DePauw University and holds a Masters Degree in Sports Administration from Indiana University.
The Motor City Mechanics are a professional AA hockey team competing in the United Hockey Leagues Central Division. The 2004/05 season marks the teams inaugural season, which starts October 15.
