Pulaski Mariners News Release

Pulaski—The Blue Jays defeated Elizabethton 6-3 with the help of a four-run second inning at Historic Calfee Park Wednesday night. Danville also won their game to keep Pulaski a game-and-a-half out of first place.

Following the Twins two-run first inning, resulting from designated hitter Deacon Burns line-drive homer, the Blue Jays rallied in the second to take an early lead that they would keep indefinitely. Left fielder Luke Hetherington, 1-for-3 on the night with two RBI and one run scored, hit a triple to start off the early assault. Three other Blue Jays pounded base knocks in the inning to make a team effort out of the charge.

Pulaski shortstop Emmanuel Sena also had a breakout game, going 3-for-3 and producing one RBI and one run.

Blue Jay middle reliever Edward CannonÂ’s (3-0) dominant presence on the mound kept Elizabethton from staging a comeback. He received the win and pitched over three solid innings, striking out six and allowing only three hits and one run.

The Blue Jays return to Calfee Park Thursday night for game two of their three-game home stand with Elizabethton.
