Jackson Returns to Gladiators

August 12, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have re-signed defenseman Jim Jackson for the 2004-2005 season.

“He was one of our top defensemen last year,” said Gladiators Head Coach Jeff Pyle. “Jimmy isn’t flashy but he knows how to get the job done and he’s a great fit for our organization.”

Jackson led all Gladiators defensemen with 33 points off of 12 goals and 21 assists in 70 games. His +34 plus/minus rating was a team high and was also tops among all rookies last year in the ECHL in that category.

“We had a great group of guys last year,” said Jim Jackson, “which was one of the reasons for our success. I think we’ll have another great year because we’ll know each other heading into the season.”

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native out of Marquette, Michigan, recorded 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points in 11 playoff games while helping the Gladiators to the ECHL’s Central Division Championship.

In his rookie season with the Gladiators last year, Jackson was named the C&T Hockey Products ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for February last year with a +15 rating along with Columbia’s Jesse Schultz.

The Central Division Champion Gwinnett Gladiators begin their second season on the road before hosting in-state rival Augusta on Friday, October 29th at 7:35 p.m. at home. In addition to having a ticket package for everyone, the Gladiators also offer group outings, suites and birthday parties. For more information call 770-497-5100 or log on to www.gwinnettgladiators.com. The Gladiators play all 36 home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth and are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers.
