Pulaski Shines in 15-0 Victory over Bluefield

Pulaski Mariners News Release

Pulaski, VA—The Blue Jays owned the Orioles inside and out in their 15-0 win at Historic Calfee Park Wednesday night. Whether pitching, fielding or hitting, the Blue Jays and Orioles contrasted sharply on the field in game two of their three game series—bad news for Orioles fans.

PulaskiÂ’s starter, Jordan Timm was seemingly untouchable, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing Bluefield only three hits while striking out nine. In contrast, Bluefield burned through five pitchers who combined to allow eleven earned runs and the same number of free bases. Starter Ryan Schwabe, who pitched only one-and-a-third innings, beamed two Pulaski batters in the process and appeared to set the rhythm for the OrioleÂ’s pitching considering that control problems continued throughout the game.

While on the field, Bluefield botched routine plays throughout the game, amassing a total of four errors that translated into four unearned Pulaski runs. By Miss-judging fly balls and side stepping grounders, the defensive efforts of the Orioles seemed half-hearted all night.

From a hitting standpoint, Pulaski never stopped swinging the entire game, failing to produce in only two innings all night. After two runs scored on right fielder Junior ChourioÂ’s first inning single into the left-centerfield gap, third baseman Anthony Garibaldi hammered a leadoff solo homerun in the second. From there on out, the diamond became PulaskiÂ’s playground.

Garibaldi spearheaded PulaskiÂ’s offense, going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI on the night. He sent his second homer clanging off the scoreboard in the fourth, a two run shot. Catcher Tim Land also went deep with a two run blast over the right-centerfield wall in the third.

The Blue Jays play the Orioles again Thursday night at Historic Calfee Park.
